Thing 9, Online Collaboration Tools

I work on a team of libraries spread throughout five states. On occasion, we are asked to collaborate with one or two teammates to create a project.

When I've worked with a partner in the past, we e-mailed drafts and comments back and forth. It was tricky to remember which draft was which. However, with a recent assignment, our director set up a Google Docs account for us to use. My partner and I haven't started working on our part of the assignment yet, but I can already see how an online collaboration tool, such as Google Docs, will make it easier to collaborate and co-author a project.

I supposed I'd know the answer if I had paid better attention while ready, but... Can two individuals have the same Google Doc document open at the same time? Can they both edit it at the same time?
